Some say you can find Bali in Lombok but not Lombok in Bali. Lombok is the neighboring island, east of Bali and this was what Bali used to be before it commercialized with its exploding tourism industry. For the fact that Lombok is still relatively undeveloped and not known to many travelers, it has unquestionably pristine underwater sceneries. The most popular dive spots are in the northwestern coast surrounding the three Gili Islands – Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air.

The Gili Islands have something for everyone. There are reef gardens blossoming with brilliant multicolored hard and soft corals, with a variety of inhabitants – reef sharks, hawksbill turtles, leafy scorpionfish, moray eels and ghost pipefish are just some of the more commonly sighted in these waters. But head to south of Lombok to find the best diving spots catering for the more experience dive enthusiast. Manta rays are often spotted here.
