1. Is there an age limit for taking up scuba?
The minimum age is 10 years old and there's no maximum
age. Health and individual level
of maturity should also be taken into consideration.
2. Can I learn to dive if have
a medical condition or consume prescriptive
medication on a regular basis?
Scuba diving requires a certain level
of physical ability and simple psychomotor skills. If
you
do have a condition, it is necessary to approach your
doctor to sign you off fit for scuba diving.
3. Can I take up scuba diving
if I cannot swim?
Because scuba diving puts you in an aquatic environment,
the minimum requirement is to be comfortable in water
in order to dive safely and confidently. Part of the
PADI Open Water
Diver course requires a 200m swim and threading in water.
4. Will there be any written
exams?
For PADI Open Water Diver course, there
will be a 50-question written exam to be completed in
no more than 90min(1.5hr). This exam is to evaluate
and reinforce your knowledge acquired
during the course.
5. Is my PADI Open Water Diver
certification card recognized outside of Singapore?
PADI (Professional Association of Diving
Instructors) is the most widely recognized and respected
scuba diving certification agency in the world. Your
PADI OWD certification card and all other level
of certifications are honored by dive centers, resorts
and charters worldwide.
6. How long does it take for
me to be a certified Open Water Diver?
The normal schedule requires 2 classroom lectures and
2 confined water training sessions. This is usually
done over a span of 2 weeks. However, we will definitely
do our best to accommodate exceptions.
7. Is there an expiration of
my PADI OWD certification?
PADI OWD certification is for
life. But if you have not been diving for quite some
time (for instance,
last dive was almost 12 months), we urge you to take
the personal responsibility of signing up for
Scuba Review to re-acquaint yourself.
