Can I use a mesh bag I found as a climbing wall for my hermit crabs?

I have this small black mesh bag I found and I was wondering if I cut it up, could I use it as a climbing wall for my hermit crabs? The holes on the bag are small though, the bag is almost the same as this picture…:

Some hermit crab owners have had issues with nets. The threads can be come embedded and tangled in the leg or claw joints, causing the crab considerable distress and if not disentangled in time, they drop the tangled limb.

Fine netting or net make out of synthetic thread is worst. Hemp and jute nets are much safer as they are coarser and the natural thread tends to cut in less.

Some hermit crab owners prefer avoid nets altogether, but others feel the enjoyment their crabs get from the climbing is worth the risk. Crabs do enjoy climbing, so if you want to add climbing toys, stick with driftwood or use a hemp or jute net. Hemp nets can be purchased from online retailers such as El’s Shells and the Hermit Crab patch.
